Aeriel is kidnapped by the darkangel, a black-winged vampyre of astounding beauty and youth. In his castle keep, she serves his 13 wives, wraiths whose souls he stole. She must kill him before his next marriage and comes into full power, but is captivated by his magnificent beauty and inner spark of goodness. Will she choose to save humanity or his soul?
This book is older, I think it was originally released in 1998, but I feel like it’s aged very well. This is definitely in my top five (5) favorite fantasy books ever!
When Aeriel’s mistress is taken by the vampyre, she sets out on a journey to avenge her.
I loved Aeriel, she’s such a kind soul and wants to see the good in everything, even a hateful vampyre. She’s also a very tough cookie with a soft heart.
I loved all of her interactions with the wraith brides, the vampyre (well maybe not every interaction with him), and I’m pretty sure a creature who is a gnome and turns to stone in the light. He was pretty awesome!
This book is just so cool, Aeriel goes on a fantastic journey internally and physically. Oh man and that ending, so good! I immediately bought the second book!
Have you read The Darkangel? Did you love it as much as I did? Let me know!
This title seems like it has a lot of fantasy archetypes blended into one. Been meaning to try this author. Nice seeing some older titles highlighted.
